Certified Management Accountant and member of the Institute of Management Accountants with 20 years of bookkeeping, accounting, and banking experience and a Masters of Business Administration in Accounting.

What is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA)?

A CMA is similar to a CPA, however, the focus is on accounting for business and decision making purposes rather than federal taxes or auditing. CMAs know and implement the same accounting standards.  However, they are also trained to use accounting information in a way that encourages effective and informed decision making.

What are the benefits of an MBA in Accounting over a Masters in Accounting?

The main focus of a Masters in Accounting is accounting, which makes it ideal for a tax accountant or auditor.  The MBA program includes marketing and management along with a specialization in Accounting when additional accounting classes are taken.  Therefore, an MBA covers more aspects of a business, and how they all relate to one another.

In other words, a CMA with an MBA in Accounting is trained to work for you and your business.
